Research Programs – Health Economic Study
Development and implementation of a research study that investigates the costs associated with living day-to-day with an autoimmune illness will enable vital information to be collected and analysed that will better inform health economists and Government policy makers about the financial burden that is placed upon autoimmune individuals. The study will map and monitor direct and indirect health and living costs as well as disease impacts on disability rates. Study results will inform Government and Non-Government organisation departments, and be used to advocate for equitable resource and inclusion in established and new chronic disease management programs as compared to other chronic disease illness groups. IT is intended that the initial study look at changes in health economic factors be monitored over time within a longitudinal research program.
